Which Harry Potter House is Your Rival?

Which Harry Potter House is Your Rival?
Harry Potter · Hogwarts · Personality

By BrainFall Staff - Published: March 8, 2025

At Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, the house you belong to becomes more than just where you sleep—it reflects your core values, shapes your social circle, and sometimes determines your rivals.

While the books highlight the legendary rivalry between brave Gryffindor and cunning Slytherin, the truth is that any of the four houses can find themselves at odds with another. Hufflepuff’s dedication to fairness might clash with Slytherin’s whatever-it-takes approach. Ravenclaw’s intellectual focus might irritate action-oriented Gryffindors. These tensions arise not from hatred, but from fundamentally different perspectives on what matters most.

Just as your own personality would likely align with one house if the Sorting Hat were placed on your head, there’s probably another house whose values and methods would regularly frustrate you or challenge your worldview. These differences don’t make either side wrong—in fact, such rivalries often push both parties to grow and reconsider their assumptions.

This quiz will determine which Hogwarts house would most naturally become your rival based on your personality, values, and approach to life’s challenges. Are you ready to discover which house would be competing against you for the House Cup?

      • The person who suggests slipping it into someone else's drink to test it first

      Question 5/12

      • The house that somehow always finds loopholes in the point system
      • The house that accumulated points almost entirely from classroom performance
      • The house that won through consistent small point gains without any standout achievements

      Question 9/12

Choose the magical pet that would irritate you most:

      • A phoenix that dramatically bursts into flames whenever you need it
      • A snake that only obeys commands when others are watching
      • An owl that refuses to deliver letters until you explain your reasoning
      • A badger that hides your possessions because it thinks sharing is better
      Question 10/12

Your Divination teacup shows a symbol indicating your greatest magical challenge will involve...

      • Dealing with glory-seekers who take unnecessary risks
      • Navigating a situation where rules are bent for the privileged few
      • Working with people who prioritize theory over practical results
      • Breaking through resistance to change based on "how things have always been done"
      Question 11/12

The Sorting Hat whispers that you possess qualities of all houses, but would clash most with students who...

      • Act first and think later, even when the stakes are high
