The Elder Scrolls series has revolutionized gaming. Bethesda Softworks has always attempted to make Elder Scrolls games immersive and unrestrictive. With each chapter of The Elder Scrolls, the company has redefined just what that means. Of course, the two oldest titles of the series, Arena and Daggerfall, have aged particularly badly. The third game, Morrowind, is considered by many to be the point when Bethesda Game Studios really took off with the series. While Morrowind has also aged significantly, many of the core elements of The Elder Scrolls were perfected here, and many people still consider it to be the best game in the series.
Oblivion and Skyrim built upon Morrowind’s success, with both titles striving to offer improved storytelling, characterization, graphics, and much more. And Elder Scrolls Online took the series in a whole new direction. Because of the success of these titles, the next chapter of the Elder Scrolls, currently only known as Elder Scrolls VI, is one of the most highly anticipated games in the industry, even though very little has been revealed about it. If you consider yourself to be an expert on all things Elder Scrolls, then take this quiz!
RPGs, or role-playing games, will never be the same again thanks to The Elder Scrolls series of games. Their scale is unprecedented. There's just so much to do in every single Elder Scrolls game. Of course, each chapter of The Elder Scrolls is unique. In Morrowind, you're based on the island of the Dark Elves, Vvardenfell, playing as the reincarnation of Lord Nerevar, fighting off the demigod Dagoth Ur. Oblivion is named for the Oblivion Crisis, which sees Daedra pour into the mortal world. Skyrim is set in the frozen world of the Nords, and it sees the player rise to his full potential as the Dragonborn, preventing dragons from destroying the world. And that's just the core offline games. There's also the world of The Elder Scrolls Online and smaller games, like The Elder Scrolls Blades.
As there's so much packed into an Elder Scrolls game, the following questions only relate to the core base games of the series. There's also plenty of downloadable content that adds hundreds of hours of questing. But really, there's plenty of subject matter to choose from without going into these. So test your knowledge ahead!

But the real test of a true champion isn't just in the wielding of swords and spells—it's in the mastery of the lore of The Elder Scrolls (TES).

Tamriel's timeline? A frenzied fandango of dates and events that could befuddle even the wisest of sages. From the dawn of the First Era to the tumultuous times of the Third Era, this continent's history is jam-packed with more plots than a sitcom season finale. Let's carve out the essentials: Cyrodiil stands as the heartland in a jigsaw puzzle of provinces, while High Rock and Hammerfell do a dance of their own off to the west.
Oh, the magic! Imagine a place where you can't swing a khajiit without hitting an enchantment. Summerset is practically dripping with arcane excellence, being the ancestral home of the High Elves. But Summerset isn't hogging all the magical mojo—every nook and cranny of Tamriel, from Elsweyr to Hammerfell, hums with its own brand of mystical charm.
Politics in Tamriel? It's as if someone threw a deck of the most cutthroat, power-hungry rulers into a fan—alliances form and shatter faster than you can say, "Pass the mead!" Provinces vie for control, and whether it's the Third Era at its peak or the brink of yet another calamity, power shifts and prophecies abound like plot twists in a bard's tale.
