      The Waltons

The Waltons is a television show based on a family that lived in Virginia on Walton’s Mountain. Walton’s Mountain was so named because the family came as homesteaders in the late 1800s and lived there all the years since. A small town grew up around Walton's Mountain and a close community evolved.

The Waltons show was written by Earl Hamner Jr. The long-running popular '70s drama took place in the 1930s during the depression years and continued on through World War II. It starred Michael Learned, Richard Thomas, Judy Norton, and Ralph Waite. Show creator Earl Hamner Jr. also acted as the narrator of the show. Some of the popular characters on the show include John Walton Jr., John Boy Walton, Jim Bob, and Mary Ellen.
