Cryptids have gained popularity in recent years, including notorious figures such as Mothman, Bigfoot, and the Loch Ness Monster. Folklore in any culture will contain a creature or two that far surpasses the human standard of ‘normal,’ hence the images that come to mind when we think of the word “alien” or “extraterrestrial.” Many of the most well-known cryptids have claimed sightings and evidence to support their existence, but the grainy pixels in the photos and videos maintain skepticism in many people.
Whether you believe in cryptozoology as a science or not, there are some tales that make one stop and think about what might lurk in the dark when most are asleep. But these so-called monsters have been theorized and researched about more heavily than ever before, leading to quizzes like this!
Do you stay in touch with your local cryptozoologist research society, or do you turn the other way when someone says “Mothman?” What do you know about the mysterious world of cryptids?
Cryptids refer to the animals/creatures that have been rumored to exist in various parts of the world but most notably in the United States. People who study the potential existence of such beings are referred to as 'cryptozoologists' who work in the field of cryptozoology, which connects with other pseudosciences, such as aliens and UFOS, and ghost hunting. The study of cryptids is often linked to the various folklore found within many cultures across the globe. There are also some instances of potential visual proof, such as grainy video footage or photos. Cryptids are noted to inhabit water, air, and land, and they include the famous Mothman, Loch Ness Monster, and Bigfoot.
