We all have our vices. We’re only human, after all! And some of the most famous vices are listed in the seven deadly sins.
The concept of seven deadly sins has been around basically since mankind began. Pretty much everyone has at least one sin that they can’t help but return to again and again.
But which sin do you most embody? We promise finding out which of them you are won’t kill you — though we can’t guarantee you won’t need an exorcism upon discovery.
Understanding the seven sins won’t make you spin. Lust wraps you in its erotic embrace if you turn your head at every beautiful body you see. And gluttony suits those who’d rather eat food!
We’re surely not the first to accuse you of being greedy if that’s your sin. Sloth suits those who’d rather take naps than money. Wrath is basically too much anger.
You might be envious if jealousy is an issue or you always want what you don’t have. Pride becomes a problem if you have no concept of humility.
Which of these sins fits you the best? Find out in this quiz!
The seven deadly sins are lust, gluttony, greed, sloth, wrath, envy, and pride. They counterbalance the seven virtues, which are alternatively known as the seven capital sins, capital vices, or the seven cardinal sins.
However, the seven deadly sins are not the original sins. Christian monk Evagrius Ponticus created a list of eight "evil thoughts" in 375 CE so readers of his work could reflect on weakness and get closer to the holy spirit.
These original thoughts included vainglory (excessive pride) separate from pride. Envy replaced sadness on today's better-known compilation.
Pope Gregory I modernized Ponticus' list in 590 CE. The list is divided into sections of spiritual progress. The first three sins deal with material wealth or basic, shallow needs. Such things are the typical surface-level wants of the human heart.
The next three sins address the lack of self-control somebody who has looked beyond the surface might find within themselves as they advance their understanding of the world. Those who face adversity often quit and do nothing (sloth), get enraged by their situation or the world around them (wrath), or covet what seems better/unobtainable (envy).
The final sin (pride) is an excessive belief in one's self and an inordinate desire to hoard achievements. This matches Maslow's famous hierarchy of needs centuries later, where self-actualization is the final, ultimate step.

The siren song of the latest gadgets and a buffet spread fit for royalty—can we ever have enough? Wealth often breeds the desire for more power, while every all-you-can-eat deal is a temptation that leads to overeating. Our bank accounts and bellies are bursting, reminding us that innocence and self-love can teeter into excess and guilt.
