Which of the Seven Deadly Sins Are You?

Which of the Seven Deadly Sins Are You?
      Personality · Who Am I?

By BrainFall Staff - Updated: May 7, 2024

We all have our vices. We’re only human, after all! And some of the most famous vices are listed in the seven deadly sins.

The concept of seven deadly sins has been around basically since mankind began. Pretty much everyone has at least one sin that they can’t help but return to again and again.

But which sin do you most embody? We promise finding out which of them you are won’t kill you — though we can’t guarantee you won’t need an exorcism upon discovery.

Understanding the seven sins won’t make you spin. Lust wraps you in its erotic embrace if you turn your head at every beautiful body you see. And gluttony suits those who’d rather eat food!

We’re surely not the first to accuse you of being greedy if that’s your sin. Sloth suits those who’d rather take naps than money. Wrath is basically too much anger.

You might be envious if jealousy is an issue or you always want what you don’t have. Pride becomes a problem if you have no concept of humility.

Which of these sins fits you the best? Find out in this quiz!

      Seven Deadly Sins

The seven deadly sins are lust, gluttony, greed, sloth, wrath, envy, and pride. They counterbalance the seven virtues, which are alternatively known as the seven capital sins, capital vices, or the seven cardinal sins.

However, the seven deadly sins are not the original sins. Christian monk Evagrius Ponticus created a list of eight "evil thoughts" in 375 CE so readers of his work could reflect on weakness and get closer to the holy spirit.

These original thoughts included vainglory (excessive pride) separate from pride. Envy replaced sadness on today's better-known compilation.

Pope Gregory I modernized Ponticus' list in 590 CE. The list is divided into sections of spiritual progress. The first three sins deal with material wealth or basic, shallow needs. Such things are the typical surface-level wants of the human heart.

The next three sins address the lack of self-control somebody who has looked beyond the surface might find within themselves as they advance their understanding of the world. Those who face adversity often quit and do nothing (sloth), get enraged by their situation or the world around them (wrath), or covet what seems better/unobtainable (envy).

The final sin (pride) is an excessive belief in one's self and an inordinate desire to hoard achievements. This matches Maslow's famous hierarchy of needs centuries later, where self-actualization is the final, ultimate step.

Which of the Seven Deadly Sins Are You?

Ever find yourself caught in a moment of outrageous envy or sudden wrath and wonder, "Is this my supervillain origin story?" Well, before you don a cape and start monologuing, why not dive into some good ol' self-discovery with a personality quiz that's as revealing as it is entertaining? Welcome to the whimsical world of the seven deadly sins, where every one of us has a little vice that makes us oh-so human, wrapped in a personality quirk. Spoiler alert: we're not here to pass judgement—just to have a bit of fun finding out which of the seven you're most in tune with!

A dark and ominous room with seven distinct objects representing each of the Seven Deadly Sins arranged in a circle

Now, we're not saying we're saints (because where's the fun in that?), but haven't you ever wondered which deadly sin could be your alter ego? And we're not talking about the guy who cuts in line at the coffee shop (though, seriously, who does that?). Think of this as a carnival mirror that reveals more than just a funny reflection—it shows a cheeky insight into your unique, charmingly flawed character. Are you a couch potato—err, personification of Sloth—or maybe the life of the party, a.k.a. Gluttony? It's time to match your quirks with a sin in our personality quiz—it's sinfully accurate, we swear!

So, gather round, fellow mischief-makers, as we embark on a journey through the lighthearted underbelly of our souls with our tongue-in-cheek quiz. And remember, no matter which sin you get, we're all a bit of a mixed bag; taking the quiz could be the most fun you've had since you last indulged in a bit of Greed (yes, we saw you swipe the last slice of pizza, but who's counting?). Let's revel in our imperfections and find out which sin is having a secret love affair with your psyche!

      Diagnosis: Identifying Your Sinful Personality

A scale with seven symbols representing the seven deadly sins, each with a label underneath

Before we jump into the deep waters of the seven deadly sins, let's remember: this is all in good fun. A little self-reflection paired with laughter can go a long way. We're about to map out where our cheeky impulses align with these age-old transgressions.

Self-Awareness Through Humor: The Quiz Begins

We all have those little quirks and idiosyncrasies that make us wonderfully unique, but sometimes they can tip us over into the sinful side of our personalities. Ever caught yourself daydreaming of fame and success? Maybe feeling a twinge of jealousy over your best friend's new car? Or perhaps, relishing just one more slice of pizza than you should? That's where our quiz swoops in! It's a guilt-free way to chuckle at our own human nature. Ready to find out which sin you're secretly shaking hands with?

From Pride to Sloth: A Spectrum of Sins

      • Pride: Ah, the original and most shiny of the sins! It's all about basking in the glow of your own greatness.
      • Greed: Those dollar signs in your eyes? That's greed, my friend, the desire for more, more, and... more.
      • Lust: It's all about intense longing – not just for people but for experiences and objects of desire.
      • Wrath: Watch out! Wrath is fiery anger that bubbles up when we've been wronged.
      • Sloth: Loving your lazy Sundays a bit too much? Sloth is all about resistance to effort.
      • Envy: Green with envy? This sin is coveting what others have that we lack.
      • Gluttony: It's not just about food; it's an overindulgence in anything and everything!

As we tiptoe through this rogues' gallery, it's clear that each sin has its own charm (or should we say alarm?). But remember, we're just human, and a little temptation now and then spices up life.

The Peculiarities of Envy and Gluttony

Who hasn't looked over at their neighbor's greener grass or felt the siren call of the second helping of dessert? Envy and Gluttony make us all too human. Envy's got that "I want what they have," vibe, while Gluttony is like the friend who never knows when the party's over. They're the peculiar cousins in the seven deadly sins family, each whispering our deepest, sometimes silliest, desires. So, which oddball trait are you more likely to RSVP 'yes' to?

Embarking on this journey of self-discovery is not just amusing, it's downright enlightening. We've set the stage, laid out the characters, and now it's your turn to take the spotlight. Slide into our quiz like it's your favorite pair of comfy pants, and let's laugh together at what we find!

Beyond the Quiz: Sin in Everyday Life

Let's face it, whether you aced the Angel Academy or skirted through the School of Sin, everyday life is riddled with temptations that align, eerily well, with the seven deadly sins. But how do they manifest beyond the quiz? Grab your halo (or horns) as we dive into modern-day vices.

Lust for Likes: Love and Approval in the Digital Age

In the realm of clicks and notifications, our desire for digital affection might have us coveting more than just love. Each like, share, and retweet is a tempting fruit we can't help but crave. Facebook isn't just a social network—it's the Garden of Eden, with every post a forbidden apple promising the sweet rush of validation. Oh, the rush when our tally of hearts and emojis climbs!

Sloth Strikes: When Netflix Binging Trumps Ambition

Hands up if you've fallen into the cozy clutches of your couch, promising yourself one episode, only to emerge hours later, bleary-eyed and bewildered. That's right, Netflix has turned us all into binge-watching fiends, with careers and ambition often taking the backseat. Sleep? Who needs it when you're six seasons deep and the cliffhangers just won't quit?

Greed and Gluttony: Wealth and Overeating in a World of Excess

The siren song of the latest gadgets and a buffet spread fit for royalty—can we ever have enough? Wealth often breeds the desire for more power, while every all-you-can-eat deal is a temptation that leads to overeating. Our bank accounts and bellies are bursting, reminding us that innocence and self-love can teeter into excess and guilt.

So, whether you're chasing after your next career milestone while battling laziness, or finding a balance between self-care and gluttony, remember, each choice might just be a page out of the legendary book of sin.
