Eating habits are different for different people and children are notorious for their fussy eating. But as you get older, most people grow out of their food questions and aversions. But there are plenty of people who are still picky eaters.
There are those of us who don’t want to eat new foods and only like to eat our favorite food over and over again. Some people only like sweet foods while others like sour foods. As a toddler, you may have doused everything in ketchup. But as an adult, that’s a little weird. If you’re curious if you’re a picky eater, there’s a way to figure it out. Picky eaters are people who tend to not like a lot of foods. They prefer their favorite foods that they ate as a kid and have difficulty changing up their meals the older they get. It's a challenge to get them to eat, and going to a restaurant with them can be frustrating. Picky eating habits usually start for people as kids when they only eat a meal they actually liked. Picky eating habits are also led by the parents, as they will frequently just give their kid something that makes them happy.
Foods that are typically avoided by picky eaters are things like vegetables, mayonnaise, tofu, oysters, and anything of that kind of texture. Picky eaters will rely on things like bread, pizza, and hamburgers to get by. They'll load up veggies with ketchup or only eat sugary cereals. Eating the same food over and over rather than trying new foods is a textbook picky eater move.
