Fargo proves there’s much more going on in North Dakota than wildlife gatherings!
Every Fargo season brings us a new set of fascinating characters to follow. Many characters of both virtue and viciousness scatter throughout the storylines.
Billy Bob Thornton aced the starring role of chillingly unphased hitman Lorne Malvo. He corrupts the mediocre mind of cowardly salesman-turned-sinister-superstar Lester Nygaard (Martin Freeman).
If you have no problem telling anyone what’s on your mind at any time, Nikki Swango (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) is your competitive, eccentric character. Witty mob enforcer Mike Milligan (Bokeem Woodbine) picks up where Lorne Malvo left off and adds some pizzazz to the professional pandemonium.
We’re sure you’ll identify with one of these strong personalities. For those interested in more Fargo, Chris Rock, Bob Odenkirk, Jon Hamm of Mad Men, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Kristen Dunst, and Ted Danson appear in the ensemble cast as well.
But which character are you the most like? Find out in this quiz!
Fargo character
Fargo characters drive the FX/Hulu show to rare acclaim. The show amassed 18 Emmy nominations and won two. Season one snagged the coveted award for the best-limited series of 2014. Billy Bob Thornton as enigmatic hitman Lorne Malvo defeated Better Call Saul's Bob Odenkirk for the Critic's Choice nomination for best actor in a movie or miniseries.
The show has 51 episodes spanning five seasons. The premise is essentially an anthology putting a subtle coat of dark comedy on horrifying criminal scenarios.
The popular 1996 movie of the same name directed by the Coen Brothers serves as the show's inspiration. Each season features entirely new storylines and casts. The show's ruthless corruption stays the same.
Viewers clasp the edge of their seats with white knuckles while watching the aloof misdeeds of each season.
Season five took the show up to a whole new level with the story of Dot Lyon (Juno Temple), whose seemingly normal life was unraveled by Sheriff Roy Tillman (Jon Hamm).
The ensemble cast in this season was top-notch too, with Jennifer Jason Leigh playing Lorraine Lyon, the head of a powerful debt collection agency, and David Rysdahl playing her son Wayne Lyon. North Dakota state trooper Witt Farr (Lamorne Morris) and Minnesota police deputy Indira Olmstead (Richa Moorjani) acted as the moral compass of the season.
Most of the show's action takes place in North Dakota or Minnesota. The show is a truly fascinating addition to the crime genre!
