Sexual orientation can be confusing. We get it. Almost everyone, at some point or another, has felt an attraction to the same gender in addition to being into the opposite sex. There’s nothing wrong with that! The number of people who identify as bi has risen over the years and more folks are admitting to being bi-curious. Gay, straight, and lesbian aren’t the ONLY options.
Attraction can mean many things. Maybe you have a friend you think is cute. Maybe you have a colleague that you just really get along well with. Maybe your loins are on fire because the barista remembered how to spell your name. Anything that draws you to another person- intellectually, emotionally, or sexually – could be considered an attraction.
What if you find yourself attracted to people who are the same gender as you and the opposite sex? Does that mean you’re Bisexual? Maybe you’re bi-curious. Maybe you’re totally straight. Let’s find out!
(Note: We know the world is made up of more than just 2 genders and there are all types of sexual orientations. For the sake of this quiz, we’re going to keep it simple by using male/female and gay/straight.)
Bisexuality Test
Bisexuality is defined as romantic, emotional, and/or sexual attraction to people who are the same gender AND the opposite gender as you. Sexual orientation lies on a spectrum. On one end, you have exclusive heterosexuality - meaning attraction to the opposite sex, or straight. On the other end, you'll find homosexuality - attraction to the same sex, or gay. In the middle of the spectrum, you have those who are attracted to both. You can also lean one way or another and still be considered bisexual.
Of course, we know that gender and sexuality are not as cut and dry as straight or gay, one or the other. Who we are attracted to doesn't need to fit into any particular definition. Also, research has shown that sexuality changes and evolves over our lifetime. You may feel attracted to girls today, but next year find that you're more into guys.
