Those who are elected to the hall by the Baseball Writers Association of America are enshrined in the plaque gallery in the center of the museum. If you make it into the national baseball Hall of Fame, you're considered among the greatest who ever played, coached, or was associated with the game.
Hall of fame members include players, managers, coaches, umpires, executives, and even non-players like media members. You are first eligible as a player to be on the ballot five years after you've retired, and the media members will vote in an annual election. Those who are named on 75% of ballots are inducted into the hall. If you don't make it in after 10 tries, you are eligible to be voted by the veteran's committee later on.
