Did you watch the HBO Max and HBO Series The Last of Us? Were you caught up in the post-apocalyptic world like many viewers? Maybe you were a fan of the Naughty Dog video game that sparked the TV series. Maybe you had never heard of the action game before, or maybe at least you weren’t aware of the game’s story. The Last of Us is one of the most iconic games of the past 20 years. The game’s writer and creator, Neil Druckmann, was also a co-writer and executive producer on the show with Craig Mazin. So that helped bring the series to life, and it has been hailed as one of the best video game adaptations in years.
The Last of Us video game is available on PlayStation, and PlayStation Productions and Sony Pictures Television oversaw the creation of The Last of Us TV series. The game and show follow two main characters, Ellie and Joel, who must travel throughout the country in hopes of helping develop a cure for an infectious disease that has wiped out much of the population and changed people into infected. The video game and TV series match up rather well, and The Last of Us has been lauded for its storytelling. So which character from the TV series are you? Take this The Last of Us quiz to find out.
The Last of Us
The Last of Us is a video game from 2013 developed by Naughty Dog. It is a post-apocalyptic story that follows a deadly virus outbreak that turns people into an infected, undead type entity. Basically, it is in the zombie apocalypse. The Last of Us TV show follows a nearly identical story and stars Bella Ramsey as Ellie and Pedro Pascal as Joel. Other characters include Nick Offerman as Bill, Murray Bartlett as Frank, Anna Torv as Tess, Merle Dandridge as Marlene, Nico Parker as Sarah, Joel's daughter, Gabriel Luna as Joel's younger brother Tommy, Storm Reid as Ellie's friend Riley, Lamar Johnson as Henry, Melanie Lynskey as Kathleen, Jeffrey Pierce as Perry, and more. Naughty Dog co-founder and The Last of Us creative director Neil Druckmann is the co-writer of the show and executive producer alongside Craig Mazin. The Last of Us is an HBO Max and HBO series and the action game's story falls in the zombie genre.
The first season consists of nine episodes. The first episode sets the game and shows up. There are action sequences in the opening sequence that get the audience hooked. Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann highlighted a lot of the best scenes in the teaser trailer, which got the internet buzzing. Ashley Johnson, who voices Ellie in The Last of Us video game, stars as Ellie's mom in The Last of Us show. Troy Baker, who voices Joel in the video game, stars as James in the show. Ellie and Joel have to go from quarantine zone to quarantine zone, including a stop in Kansas City. Joel is a hardened survivor who wants to find his brother Tommy.
The second episode moves the plot forward, and the third episode is arguably one of the saddest episodes in recent TV history and is set in Bill and Frank's own isolated town. The production design, the action sequences, and the powerful performances have received praise. There is a sequel to The Last of Us, and the first game was the entire first season of the HBO series.
