Genshin Impact is an open-world role-playing game that is free to play, with many playable characters. Genshin is also an action title, with many skills and abilities special to each character. While there is a main story quest, the player is welcome to explore the many terrains, bosses, and dungeons in the world of Teyvat.

On the quest to find their lost sibling, the player starts the game by choosing between the male traveler, Aether, or the female traveler, Lumine. The two were separated in their travels, and the player lands in the wondrous world of Teyvat to begin their long journey of finding their sibling once more, with the help of many characters along the way.
