Hamlet characters
Hamlet is a classic Shakespeare play that's taught in schools all around the world. The play tells the story of Prince Hamlet, a young man who returns home from university after his father is murdered. Hamlet's uncle, Claudius, has become king of Denmark and married his mother, Queen Gertrude. Hamlet's father comes to him in the form of a ghost and tells the young prince that King Claudius murdered him. Hamlet vows to get revenge for his father's murder.
Hamlet feigns madness as he works on a plan to avenge his father's death, and he's soon completely consumed by the plan. Claudius has two of Hamlet's friends, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern, spy on him. Later, Hamlet kills Polonius by accident, thinking it's his uncle. Then, Ophelia, Polonius' daughter who has feelings for Hamlet, drowns in a river. As the play goes on, more and more deaths happen before the play finally reaches its tragic end.
