Oscar Isaac Hernandez Estrada was born on March 9, 1979, in Guatemala City, Guatemala. When he was an infant, his family moved to the United States. Oscar Isaac graduated from the prestigious Juilliard School in New York City in the early 2000s. Isaac starred as Joseph in The Nativity Scene, which was one of his big breaks. He gained recognition playing Prince John in Robin Hood and narrated the historical drama film Che. Isaac won the role of Llewyn Davis in Inside Llewyn Davis in 2013, which made his career soar. From there, he starred alongside Jessica Chastain in the crime drama A Most Violent Year and played eccentric genius Nathan Bateman in Ex Machina in 2014. After landing the role of Poe Dameron in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, he played the character in two more Star Wars sequels.
He teamed up again with Ex Machina director Alex Garland for Annihilation and played Paul Gauguin in At Eternity's Gate. He has done voice work as well, voicing Miguel O'Hara in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and Gomez Addams in multiple The Addams Family films. He has led two HBO miniseries: Show Me a Hero, for which he earned a Golden Globe nomination and win, and Scenes from a Marriage, which also starred Jessica Chastain. He earned another Golden Globe nom for that role as well as his role in Inside Llewyn Davis. Oscar Isaac starred in Moon Knight on Disney+, a Marvel Cinematic Universe show where he played Marc Spector and Moon Knight. Isaac has also been in numerous plays in New York City, showing off his talents in the theater.
