If you’re of a certain age, you grew up with Nickelodeon on your TV all the time. One of the most influential cartoons of its era was Rocko’s Modern Life. The first few notes of the theme song by Sarah Frost-Goetz gave it away, and you’d go through an entire episode following an Australian wallaby going through American life. Rocko’s Modern Life was filled with great animation, adult jokes, and childish antics, emitting a loud roar from both parents and children. There were four seasons, and Netflix released Static Cling, which brought the characters back after the show’s cancellation. Created by Joe Murray and Joe Murray Productions, it helped launch the voice careers of Carlos Alazraqui and Tom Kenny.
If you’re a big fan of the show, you probably wondered what it would be like to spend time in O-Town. Want to eat at the Chokey Chicken? Want to watch Wacky Delly or move to Holl O Wood? Whether you prefer the first season, second season, third season, or fourth season is up to you. But what we can help you figure out is which of the Rocko’s Modern Life characters you are most like. Maybe it’s Rocko? Maybe it’s Filburt? Come take this quiz to find out!
Rocko's Modern Life is an American cartoon made by series creator Joe Murray. Rocko's Modern Life was a series about an Australian Wallaby named Rocko, the main character, who lives in O-Town. Rocko's faithful dog, Spunky, lives with him. Rocko works at Lot O Comics and loves to eat Chewy Chicken at the Chokey Chicken. The pilot episode, "Trash-O-Madness," is where you meet Rocko. Other characters in the show include Rocko's friends, Heffer Wolfe, a cow raised by wolves, and Filburt Turtle, a neurotic turtle. Rocko's Modern Life also showed Rocko and his neighbors, Ed and Bev Bighead, who were constantly at odds from the first episode Ed appeared in. Bev would frequently try to seduce Rocko.
Carlos Alazraqui voiced Rocko, marking the beginning of his voice career. Tom Kenny, who went on to be the titular voice of Spongebob Squarepants, voiced Heffer. Charlie Adler was the voice of both Ed and Bev Bighead. Mr. Lawrence voiced Filburt, and Linda Wallem was the voice of Dr. Hutchison, Filburt's girlfriend. Joe Murray himself was the voice of Rachel "Ralph" Bighead. Rocko's Modern Life showed American life from the pilot episode on, and the complete series included four seasons, Rocko's Modern Christmas, and Static Cling, a Netflix reboot. There were DVD releases of the complete series set of Rocko's Modern Life that you can purchase now for high quality. You can also get Rocko toys that would make you feel like you could visit O-Town, and you can watch the show on YouTube in the United State or Canada.
