William Shakespeare has cemented his place as one of the greatest playwrights in history after writing hundreds of amazing works of art. But the play many consider to be his greatest work is Romeo and Juliet. This play is a story about two star-crossed young lovers who come from feuding families and enter into a relationship anyways. The feuding families, the Capulets and the Montagues, have been looking for an excuse to fight, and all they needed was a reason. So when Sampson Montague bites his thumb at Abram Capulet, the battle begins, ending in deaths that shake fair Verona.
The play is not just about Romeo and Juliet’s love story, though. The play also follows the stories of Mercutio (Romeo’s best friend), Benvolio Montague, and Tybalt Capulet. Some of the other main characters include Friar Laurence, a priest who ends up marrying the young lovers, and Count Paris, who is Juliet’s fiance when Romeo meets her. It was love at first sight with a sad, tragic ending for all.
But who would you be from the infamous William Shakespeare play?
Romeo and Juliet is a play written by William Shakespeare that tells the story of two young lovers. The pair fall in love at first sight, but they are not allowed to be together because of their feuding families. The Capulet house and Montague house feud over everything, causing Romeo and Juliet's love story to end in tragedy.
But aside from the love story between Romeo and Juliet, the play also features the stories of Juliet's cousin Tybalt Capulet, Romeo's best friend Mercutio, and Friar Laurence. Since it premiered way back in the 1500s, this iconic play has been the inspiration for countless novels, plays, and movies.
